A prompt is a question that Perquery asks the AI engines for your site. A scan asks the prompts on every tracked engine, under every persona. On some plans, a scan asks only part of the prompts. See Scans and schedule. The results of all pages come from these answers. To open the list, click Prompts in the sidebar, then Prompt List.

Filters

The controls at the top of the page set the scope of the metrics: Date range, Persona filter and AI engine. For more information, see Performance Overview. The Filters bar above the table narrows the list:
  • Search prompts…: finds prompts by their text.
  • Tracking group: shows the prompts of one group. Select Ungrouped to show the prompts that have no group.
  • Sentiment: shows the prompts with Positive, Neutral or Negative sentiment.
  • Opportunity: shows the prompts that have an opportunity (Has opportunity) or no opportunity (No opportunity).
Click Clear to remove all filters.

To sort the list, click a column heading: Visibility, Avg. rank, Sentiment or Opp.. Click the heading again to change the direction. Click a row to open the prompt detail.

Add a prompt

1

Open the dialog

Click Add prompt.
2

Enter the prompt

Type the question in Prompt text. Write it the way that a user asks an AI assistant. The text can have 150 characters maximum.
3

Add suggestions (optional)

In AI-suggested prompts, click Suggest for my brand. Click each suggestion that you want to add.
4

Select the groups (optional)

In Tracking groups, select the groups of the prompts. To make a new group, type a label in New group label… and click Add.
5

Save

Click Add prompt.
A scan starts for each prompt that you add, so you do not wait for the next scheduled scan. If your plan’s scan limit is reached, the prompt is saved and it joins the next scheduled scan.
The number of prompts that you can track depends on your plan. See pricing.
If the same prompt is already in the list, Perquery shows This prompt is already tracked.

Import prompts

Use the import to add many prompts at one time.
1

Open the import

Click Import.
2

Add the rows

Click Choose a file and select a CSV, TSV, TXT or Excel (.xlsx) file. You can also paste a list, with one prompt on each line.
3

Check the preview

Click Preview. The preview shows the rows that will be added and the rows that will be skipped, with the reason.
4

Import

Click the Import button that shows the number of new rows.
The file can have three columns: prompt, groups and target_page. Separate more than one group with |. Click Download a template to get a sample file. The preview also estimates the answers that one scan of the new prompts collects. Imported prompts join the next scheduled scan. If the new prompts make the next full scan go over the monthly scan limit of your plan, the preview tells you. In that case the scheduled scan can be skipped.

Prompt detail

The detail page uses the Date range, Persona filter and AI engine that you selected on the list.
  • Performance metrics: Visibility, Avg. rank, Sentiment and Opportunity score. Appears on lists the engines that mentioned your brand.
  • Why this is an opportunity: the reasons for the opportunity, when the prompt has one.
  • Persona comparison: the same prompt measured under each persona.
  • Visibility trend: the visibility of the prompt over the selected range.
  • LLM-by-LLM results: the answer of each engine, your rank in it and the competitors that are ahead of you. When your brand is not in the answer, the card shows an excerpt.
Click Back to prompts to go back to the list with the same filters.

Change a prompt

On the prompt detail page, you can change these settings:
  • Edit text: changes the prompt text. You can change the text only until the prompt is measured. After the first measurement, the text stays fixed so that the trend measures one question.
  • Edit groups: selects the tracking groups of the prompt. Click Done to close.
  • Change target page: sets the page URL or path that you want to optimize for this prompt. Click Remove target to clear it.
  • Set as target: sets the page that content analysis matched to this prompt as the target page. It shows only when the prompt has no target page.
For more information about target pages, see Content analysis.
