# Prompt groups

> Sort your prompts into tracking groups and compare the performance of each group.

A tracking group is a label that you put on prompts, for example a product line, a topic or a stage of the buying journey. Use groups to filter the prompt list and to compare the average results of a set of prompts.

A prompt can be in more than one group. Groups do not change what a scan asks. Every prompt is scanned, with or without a group.

## Add prompts to a group

You make a group when you type a new label. You can add a label in these places:

* **Add prompt** dialog: in **Tracking groups**, select a group, or type a label in **New group label…** and click **Add**.
* Prompt detail page: click **Edit groups**, select the groups and click **Done**.
* **Prompt List** page: click **Select**, select the prompts, then click **Assign to group**.
* **Import** dialog: put the groups in the `groups` column. Separate more than one group with `|`.

A group label can have 30 characters maximum. A prompt can have 10 groups maximum.

To add many prompts to a group:

**1. Select the prompts**

On the **Prompt List**, click **Select**. Then select the prompts.

**2. Assign the group**

Click **Assign to group**. Select a group, or type a new label and click **Add**.

**3. Finish**

Click **Done selecting**.

## Remove prompts from a group

* For one prompt: open the prompt, click **Edit groups** and clear the group.
* For many prompts: on the **Prompt List**, click **Select**, select the prompts, then click **Remove from group**.

## Filter the prompt list by group

On the **Prompt List**, open the **Tracking group** filter and select a group. Select **Ungrouped** to see the prompts that have no group.

## Group performance

The **Group prompt performance** page shows how each tracking group performs, averaged across the prompts in it.

To open the page, click **Prompts** in the sidebar, then **Group Performance**. You can also click the **Group performance** tab on the prompt list.

The page uses the **Date range**, **Persona filter** and **AI engine** at the top of the page. For more information, see [Performance Overview](https://docs.perquery.ai/en/monitor/dashboard.md#filters).

### Summary cards

| Card | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Tracking groups** | The number of groups of the site. |
| **Grouped prompts** | The number of prompts that are in at least one group. |
| **Top group visibility** | The visibility of the best group, and the name of that group. |

### Group summary table

The **Group summary** table lists the groups, with the best visibility first.

| Column | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Group** | The group label. Click it to open the prompt list filtered to this group. |
| **Prompts** | The number of prompts in the group. |
| **Visibility** | The average visibility of the prompts in the group. |
| **Avg. rank** | The average rank of the prompts in which your brand has a rank. |
| **Avg. sentiment** | The average sentiment of the prompts in which your brand appears. |
| **Opportunity** | The average opportunity score of the prompts in the group. |

A prompt that is in more than one group counts in each of its groups. A prompt with no measurement yet counts as zero visibility in the average.

To download the table, click **Export** and select **CSV** or **Excel (.xlsx)**.

If the site has no groups, the page shows **Go to the prompt list**. Add labels to some prompts to see the group averages.
