# Growth opportunities

> See every open opportunity of your site ranked by its score, open it in the tool that fixes it, and record the fix.

**Growth Opportunities** collects the issues that Perquery finds in its measurements and ranks them by an opportunity score. Each opportunity tells you why it matters and which tool fixes it.

Open it from the **Growth** group in the menu: **Growth Opportunities**.

## Where opportunities come from

Perquery builds the list from the latest measurements of your site:

* The [scans](https://docs.perquery.ai/en/sites/scans-and-schedule.md) of your prompts.
* The [content analysis](https://docs.perquery.ai/en/analyze/content-analysis.md) of your pages.
* The [technical audit](https://docs.perquery.ai/en/analyze/technical-analysis.md) of your site.
* The [citation sources and backlinks](https://docs.perquery.ai/en/analyze/authority.md) of your competitors.

Opportunities about the same subject are shown as one opportunity with more than one reason. When a measurement changes, the list changes too. Opportunities appear after the first scan and the first site crawl are complete.

## Opportunity types

| Type | Meaning | Examples |
| - | - | - |
| **Technical** | Crawlability, rendering and schema issues that keep AI engines from reading a page. | **Unblock GPTBot in robots.txt**, **Publish an llms.txt file**, **Publish a current sitemap** |
| **Content** | Pages and prompts where the brand is missing, thin or outranked on content. | **Write a page that answers “best CRM tools”**, **Deepen the page answering “best CRM tools”** |
| **Off-page** | Sources and citations that a competitor earns and you do not. | **Earn a citation from example.com**, **Earn a link from example.com** |

## Opportunity overview

The **Opportunity overview** shows **Total open** and the number of open opportunities of each type. Click a type to filter the list by that type. Click it again to show every type.

## Priority matrix

The **Priority matrix** plots each opportunity by impact and ease. Impact is the opportunity score. Ease is the opposite of the effort. The matrix has four parts:

| Part | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **Do now** | High impact, low effort. |
| **Big projects** | High impact, high effort. |
| **Quick touches** | Low impact, low effort. |
| **Watch** | Low impact, high effort. |

The matrix does not plot every opportunity. A note below it gives the number of lower-ranked opportunities that it leaves out.

## Priority list

The **Priority list** shows the open opportunities with the highest score first. The columns are **#**, **Opportunity**, **Type**, **Opp. score**, **Effort** and **Actions**.

* To sort the list, click a column title.
* To find an opportunity, type in **Search opportunities…** and click **Search**.
* To hide an opportunity that you do not plan to fix, click **Dismiss**.
* To see the hidden opportunities, click **Show dismissed**. Click **Restore** to put one back in the list.

## Open an opportunity

Click **View opportunity** on a row. The detail panel shows these items:

* The **Opportunity score**, the effort and the matrix part.
* The persona for which the brand is weakest, when the opportunity is about a prompt.
* **Why this matters:** the reasons for the opportunity.
* **Subject** and **Target page**.
* **Continue in the tool:** buttons that open the tools that fix the opportunity, for example the [Content Brief Generator](https://docs.perquery.ai/en/tools/content-brief.md) or the [robots.txt Checker & Generator](https://docs.perquery.ai/en/tools/robots-txt.md).

When no tool covers the opportunity, the panel tells you so. Then the reasons are the full recommendation.

## Mark an opportunity as done

When you apply a fix, record it. Perquery then measures the visibility before and after the fix on [Impact tracking](https://docs.perquery.ai/en/act/impact-tracking.md).

**1. Open the opportunity**

Click **View opportunity** on a row.

**2. Choose the reason**

In the **Mark as done** section, find the reason that you fixed. Each reason shows the problem and the action.

**3. Open the record dialog**

Click **Mark as done** next to that reason. The **Record an applied action** dialog opens with the subject and the action filled in.

**4. Set the deploy date**

In **Deploy date**, enter the day the change went live on your site.

**5. Record the action**

Click **Record**.

The reason then shows the date of the record. The row in the list shows **Recorded as done**. Click the date to open **Impact Tracking**.

> Use the export menu on the **Priority list** to download the opportunities as CSV or Excel.
